At Ruby Jack our biggest drive and motivation is creating and producing artistic jewellery that comes from a genuine place of excitement, inspiration and integrity. We are a small company and are looking for a new member to join our team of 3. Ruby designs all of our collections at our Margate based studio and every single piece is made by hand, by us.

The right candidate will have competent bench worker skills and understanding in the following areas:

  • Working with casts, de-spruing and clean up
  • Basic knowledge of the wax casting process
  • Sawing
  • Filing
  • Sanding
  • Polishing
  • Making items to size such as rings, cuffs and bangles
  • Basic stone setting
  • Soldering - various methods. Experience working with brass, silver & gold.
  • Used to using jewellery machinery - pendant motors/hand drills/barrel polishers/gas torch/polishing wheel etc.
-
You must be highly organised, committed, reliable, and comfortable being in a supporting role. You must also have a great eye for quality checking and attention to detail. You must be fast at the bench but never sacrificing quality.
-
You will be working alongside Ruby & one other assistant in the studio, as well as Chris who runs operations. You will often be working independently (when Ruby and team are on other tasks), so you must be comfortable being tasked with a to do list and capable of managing rolling deadlines.
-
Your time will be split between making orders, packing orders, checking and maintaining stock levels, as well as assisting Ruby in the technical realisation of new designs for both the Ruby Jack brand and our sister brand, Shape of Sound.
-
A keen interest in the world of jewellery and fashion is essential, as is an interest in the Ruby Jack and Shape of Sound brands. @rubyjack__ @shapeofsound__

-
Brownie points (not essential): experience of CAD design, experience in problem solving design questions, advanced stone setting, working in other mediums such as glass or acrylic, experience working in red and blue wax (designing for wax casting). You tell us! Please include anything you think might be interesting in your application.
-
Please only apply if you meet the job requirements.
